Steve Groves serves as technical director, meaning he is responsible for providing tech support and staff for weekend services and daily operations around Northland's campus and multi-sites. Having served formerly as the park audio crew chief for Disney's Epcot theme park, Steve gained experience planning and implementing large-scale audio systems, particularly for special events. He and his wife, Laurie, were first invited to Northland by worship team member Teresa Lee McCaskill, who also worked at Disney at the time. Steve says his hope is "to serve the congregation with distraction-free audio" that is "easy to hear and understand, yet powerful and exciting, when that is called-for." Originally from Normal, Illinois, he holds a bachelor's degree in theater technology from the University of Illinois, Urbana. Steve and Laurie have one daughter, Hannah.
