The Triumphal Entry (Mar 28-29)

The Triumphal Entry (Mar 28-29)

March 26, 2020

This weekend in children’s church, we will celebrate the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Praise Jesus the humble king who came to save us!

When you sit at home: Ages 3-K read Mark 11:1-10. Grades 1-2 read Luke 19:30-32, 35-36; John 12:13. Grade 3 reads Luke 19:30-32, 35-36; John 12:13; Luke 19:41-42. Grades 4-5 read Luke 19:30-32, 35-36; John 12:13-16; Luke 19:41-42. What would you have said to praise Jesus if you had been in Jerusalem that day?

When you walk along the road: Even though Jesus knew everything that would happen to Him, He chose to ride into Jerusalem so He could save us. Answer each of the questions below with as many answers as you can, using the motions each time you answer, and see what you remember about the story.

What did Jesus know? “HE KNEW …” (Snap your fingers 3 times.)

How did Jesus obey? “HE OBEYED …” (Shout“YES!”)

Who does Jesus love? “HE LOVES …” (Stomp your feet three times or as many as you like!)

Who did Jesus save? “HE SAVED …” (Raise both hands and shout Hallelujah!)

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week“Jesus, thank you for the way You knew, obeyed, loved and saved. May we praise You as the humble king who came to save us. Amen.”

When you get up: Play “Rhythm Praises” with your family using your hands as instruments to praise Him. Practice the rhythm: Slap thighs with both hands two times, clap two times, snap left fingers and then right fingers.Should sound like: Slap, slap, clap, clap, snap, snap. Once everyone has the rhythm, take turns naming one thing you want to praise Jesus for on the snap-snap (e.g.Slap, slap, clap, clap, then on the snap, snap (friends)). Play as long as you like.

Optional: Make a Praise Catcher.
