The Lost Sheep (June 6-7)

The Lost Sheep (June 6-7)

June 3, 2020

This week we've been learning about Jesus’ parable, “The Lost Sheep.” Just like the shepherd who leaves his sheep to find the one who is lost, Jesus is our Shepherd and seeks out those of us who are lost. He invites us to follow Him and He will care for us.

When you sit at home: Read Luke 15:1-7. A parable is a story that teaches a lesson. Jesus used parables to teach people about God’s kingdom. In this story, the lost sheep stands for a sinner–someone who has done wrong in God’s eyes. Who does the shepherd stand for? (Jesus.) What is the lesson Jesus wants us to learn from this parable?

When you walk along the road: Jesus is our Shepherd; that means He leads us, He protects us, and He cares for us just as a shepherd cares for his sheep. When might it be helpful for you to remember Jesus is your Shepherd?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Lord, thank You for loving us so much that You lead us, care for us, and teach us. Help us to follow You in everything we do and say. Amen.”

When you get up: Go outside with your family, sit or lie down on the ground, and look up at the clouds. We don’t know when Jesus will come back, but what do you think that day will be like?
