The Life of Elijah (Aug 21-22)

August 19, 2021

We worship the God of Power. We see His power in the way He uses the gifts He has given us to build up His kingdom and to bring others close to Him. This weekend in children’s church, we will continue to explore the life of Elijah the prophet and remember who God is and what He has done.

When you sit at home: Age 3-Kindergarten read 1 Kings 17:8-16. Grades 1-5 read 2 Kings 2:1, 7-15. What miracle(s) did God perform through Elijah?

Listen to the song and discuss these questions.

Ages 2-5: We can always trust God to keep His promises. What are some of the promises God has made to us? Is it difficult sometimes to trust Him to keep His promises? How could you help each other put your trust in God?

Ages 6-12: God gives us spiritual gifts and mentors to help us accomplish the work He has for us. What gifts and talents has God give you? Who encourages you to use those gifts and talents to build God’s kingdom? Do you have a mentor? Who could you ask that might encourage you to be fully alive in Jesus?

“The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.” Psalm 145:13b

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “God, thank You for showing us Your power in so many ways. Help us to put our trust in You to provide us with all we need to serve You and to minister to others. Amen.”

When you get up: Brainstorm some ways you and your family can use your spiritual gifts to serve God and minister to others. Choose one and do it!
