Is the gospel something that nourishes you on a daily basis? Pastor Matt reminds us that the Gospel is a feast, a daily feast. We all receive this invitation of the Gospel, but far too often we don't actually think it is enough, so we reject the invitation. Sermon text: Luke 14:15-24 Scriptures referenced: Luke 14, Jeremiah 2:13, Jeremiah 2:25, Psalm 63:1-5, Philippians 3:7-9, 1 Peter 5:5-7, Isaiah 57:15, Luke 1:53, Colossians 3:17, Matthew 13:22, 1 Timothy 6:6, 1 Timothy 6:17, Isaiah 55:1-3 As Seen In Worship:Call To Worship (Masai Creed, 1960, East Africa Congregation of the Holy Ghost) All: We believe in the one High God, who out of love created the beautiful world and everything good in it. He created Man and wanted Man to be happy in the world. God loves the world and every nation and tribe on the Earth. We have known this High God in darkness, and now we know Him in the light. God promised in the book of His word, the Bible, that He would save the world and all the nations and tribes. One: We believe that God made good His promise by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, a man in the flesh, a Jew by tribe, born poor in a little village, who left His home and was always on safari doing good, curing people by the power of God, teaching about God and man, showing the meaning of religion is love. He was rejected by his people, tortured and nailed hands and feet to a cross, and died. He lay buried in the grave, but the hyenas did not touch him, and on the third day, He rose from the grave. He ascended to the skies. He is the Lord. All: We believe that all our sins are forgiven through Him. All who have faith in Him must be sorry for their sins, be baptized in the Holy Spirit of God, live the rules of love and share the bread together in love, to announce the Good News to others until Jesus comes again. We are waiting for Him. He is alive. He lives. This we believe. Amen. "Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased." - C.S. Lewis: (The Weight of Glory) Four Types of "Dinner Cancellations": 1. RELIGION ('substitute righteousness') 2. WORK ('substitute significance') 3. MONEY ('substitute security') 4. RELATIONSHIPS: when we choose a 'substitute intimacy' "Religion caters to man's pride. Egos swell up through its liturgy. People satisfy their consciences that everything is all right in their lives when they conform to the external standards of the church. People even become haughty as they observe religious shortcomings in others." - Richard SissonWorship Attribute: Worship Christ today as the One who brought the Kingdom of inexhaustible love to earth. He calls the poor and the disenfranchised to feast and gives them places of honor. He chose to give His all to those who could never repay Him. That is His Kingdom.
