We worship the God who sends. This weekend in children's church, we will hear stories about the Israelites from when they were in the wilderness. Ages 3-K will hear about God sending Joshua and Caleb to spy on a new land. Grades 1-2 will learn God sent an angel to correct Balaam while Grades 3-5 will learn God sent water from a rock to quench the Israelites’ thirst.
When you sit at home:
Ages 3-K: Read Numbers 13:1-2, 25-29; 14:6-9, 30. What were the Israelites afraid of? Who trusted God? What did God say the two men would be allowed to do because of their faith?
Grades 1-2: Read Numbers 22:21-31, 34-38. God was angry with Balaam for not following His instructions. What do you think Balaam thought when he heard his donkey talk to him?
Grade 3: Read Numbers 20:1-13. What did God tell Moses and Aaron about the consequences for disobeying Him?
Grades 4-5: Read Numbers 20:6-12; Deuteronomy 3:23-4:2, 34:1-7, 10-12. What did God tell Moses and Aaron about the consequences for disobeying Him?
When you walk along the road:
Ages 3-K: We learned we can trust God with our fears. Share with each other what you are afraid of. Talk about what you can do when you are afraid and how trusting in God can help us be brave.
Ages 4-K Whisper Verse: “Do not be afraid.”
Grades 1-5: We learned God wants us to honor Him with our words and actions.Talk about what that means and share with each other those situations where you find honoring God with your words and actions difficult. Discuss how you can help each other with those struggles.
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week:Thank You, Lord, for sending us what we need. Help us to trust You and to honor You with our words and actions.Amen
When you get up: In these stories, the Israelites were traveling. Plan a trip to a place you have never been or talk about a trip you have taken to a new place. What do you need to trust God for in your traveling? How can you honor Him with your words and actions in that new place?
