Peter and the Lame Man (Jan 16-17)

Peter and the Lame Man (Jan 16-17)

January 15, 2021

We are learning about the Spirit who gives us power. In Acts 3-4, we read how the man who could not walk was healed when Peter called on Jesus’ name.

When you sit at home: Ages 3-Grade K read Acts 3:1-10. Grades 1-2 read Acts 3:1-10, 16. Grade 3 reads Acts 3:1-10, 16; 4:29-30. Grades 4-5 read Acts 3:6-8; 4:1-4, 7-12, 18-21. This man had never walked; he was lame since birth. What did Peter do to heal the man?

When you walk along the road: The man was not healed by Peter’s power but by the power of Jesus’ name and their faith. Acts 3:16 says, “It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him.” Imagine if you knew him. How would you have reacted to see Jesus take his hand and help him to his feet?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Jesus, Your name is powerful. Thank You for giving us faith in You. Our hope for healing is in you.”

When you get up: Who does your family know that needs healing? Write their names on a card and display it in a place where you can remember to pray for them. Think of something you could do to let them know you are praying for them.
