Paul’s Third Journey (May 1-2)

Paul’s Third Journey (May 1-2)

April 29, 2021

We worship the Spirit who connects us to each other and to Jesus. This weekend in children’s church, we will learn God sent Paul on a third missionary journey to encourage the churches he started or visited on his first and second journeys. God wants us to come together with other Christians as the church and encourage the body of believers, too!

When you sit at home: Age 3-Kindergarten read Acts 19:1, 8-11. Grades 1-2 read Acts 18:23; 20:20-21, 35-38. Grades 3-5 read Acts 18:23; 20:19-24, 35-38; 21:13. Why did Paul return to the places he had been on earlier journeys?

When you walk along the road: Sometimes when we talk about the church, we are referring to a building. Other times, we’re talking about all the people from all over the world throughout time who have committed to following Jesus. The church is also the people you know who gather together to encourage each other in their faith. Who are the people who encourage you to follow Jesus—who is your church? Why do you think it’s important to be part of a body of believers?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Thank You, Lord, for connecting us to You and to each other. Help us build Your kingdom as we come together as Your church. Amen.”

When you get up: God calls every believer to connect with other believers and to encourage each other. How can you encourage the believers in your church? Choose one of these scriptures (or choose your own) to post somewhere in your home to remind you of the importance of gathering together as the church.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another." Hebrews 10:24-25

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful." Colossians 3:15

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." Colossians 3:16

"For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." Romans 12:4-5
