We worship the Holy Spirit who guides us to pray and to have peace. This weekend in children’s church, we will continue reading the New Testament letters. We’ll talk about how we know we can pray to God when we are worried and He will give us peace in our minds and hearts.
When you sit at home: Age 3-Kindergarten read Philippians 4:4-6. Grades 1-2 read Philippians 4:4-9. Grade 3 reads Philippians 4:4-9; Hebrews 11:1. Grades 4-5 read Philippians 4:4-9; Hebrews 11:1; Colossians 3:15-17. What does it mean to be anxious? What are we supposed to do when we’re anxious about something?
When you walk along the road: What are the benefits of praying instead of worrying? God doesn’t promise to make our troubles disappear, but He promises to give us peace that is better than anything we could even imagine! How might you look at your situation differently if you’ve prayed instead of just worrying about it?
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Dear Lord, we are so thankful we can pray to You. Help us remember to pray instead of worrying and give us peace in our minds and hearts. Amen.”
When you get up: Who do you know that might be worrying about something that is happening to them? How could you share God’s love and peace with them? Maybe you could paint a peaceful picture, make a loving gift, or even just give them a big hug and let them know God loves them and you do, too!
