We worship the Holy Spirit who guides us in living a life of love. When we worship God, we are showing Him how much we love Him. This weekend in children’s church, we begin our focus on the New Testament Letters with letters about love. We will read how God led men such as Paul, John, and Peter to write about love. We’ll talk about how we can express our love to God and to others.
When you sit at home: Age3-Kindergarten read 1 John 4:7a, 12. Grades 1-3 read 1 Corinthians 12:1-7; 1 John 4:11-12. Grades 4-5 read 1 Corinthians 13:1-7; 1 John 4:11-12; 1 Peter 2:9. What does it mean that God’s love is made complete (or is perfected) in us?
When you walk along the road: Why is it important for us to love each other? See 1 John 4:11. How can we love each other as God has loved us?
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Thank You, Lord, for giving us the New Testament letters to guide us in our walk with You. Fill us all with Your Spirit so we can love one another as You have loved us.”
When you get up: For the next 10 weeks, we will be reading New Testament Letters. These letters were written to believers of the day and believers now to encourage us in our faith. What could you write to someone to encourage them in their faith? Write or draw a message about God’s love to a friend or family member. Let them know you love them, too!
