This weekend in children’s church, we continue learning stories from the Old Testament. Today, we will hear about David’s son, King Solomon.
When you sit at home:
· Ages 3-5 read 1 Kings 3:5-14. God gave King Solomon wisdom. What does it mean to “be wise”?
· Grades 1-3 read 1 Kings 10:1-10. God brought the Queen of Sheba to King Solomon so she could see the wisdom and riches God had given to him. What did the Queen do when she saw everything God had given Solomon? Read verse 9.
· Grades 4-5 read 1 Kings 11:1-13. God divided the kingdom because of King Solomon’s sin. Why is it important to understand there are consequences for sin? What can we do if we are truly sorry for our sins?
When you walk along the road: King Solomon used his wisdom to help other people with difficult decisions. Who do you talk with when you have a difficult decision to make?
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Lord, bless me with wisdom. Help me to make wise choices and when I make mistakes and sin, help me to stop sinning and to ask for forgiveness. Amen.”
When you get up: What has God given you that you could use to point others to Him? This week, choose one way your family can use something you have to share who God is with others.
