Jesus Is Tempted (Jan 18-19)

Jesus Is Tempted (Jan 18-19)

January 16, 2020

This weekend in children’s church, we will hear the story of how Jesus resisted temptation and used scripture to answer Satan’s challenges. We will learn we can use scriptures to fight temptation and that God is pleased with us when we make good choices.

When you sit at home: Read Matthew 4:1-11. To fast is to choose not to eat food so you can focus more on God. How long had Jesus been fasting? How do you think He was feeling after fasting for so long?

When you walk along the road: To be tempted means to be given a choice to do wrong in God’s eyes. Jesus was tempted three timesby Satan. How did Jesus respond to the temptations? What are some scriptures you might use to resist temptation?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Lord, thank You for Your Word and the power it gives usto fight temptation. Help us to make good choices and follow You. Amen.”

When you get up: What are some of the temptations your family members face? Together, find some scriptures you could use to help each other make good choices. Write the scriptures down, decorate the pages, and hang them in a place where your family will see them.
