Jesus and His Father’s House (Jan 4-5)

Jesus and His Father’s House (Jan 4-5)

January 2, 2020

This weekend in children’s church, we will hear about Jesus as a boy in His Father’s house. Jesus loved to spend time learning and talking about God. When we follow His example, we grow in our faith and become more like Jesus.

Ages 4-K Whisper Verse: “Jesus grew.”

When you sit at home: Read Luke 2:41-52. What did Jesus mean when He said He was in His Father’s house?

When you walk along the road: When we hear the word “church,” we usually think of a physical building, but believers are the church wherever we go. The church is a group of people following Jesus together and living out the mission of Jesus in their everyday lives. Who do you follow Jesus with in your everyday life? Who are the people in your church?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Lord, thank You for showing us how to grow and learn at church. Help us to listen, ask questions, and learn more about You when we are at church. Amen.”

When you get up: As we begin a new year, take time as a family to thank God for specific things He did in your lives last year and for everything He will do in the coming year. Pray and ask God for His guidance, strength, and wisdom so you may follow in His steps.Choose a Bible verse for the family for the year.* Write it on a poster, decorate it, and hang it in a place where you will all see it every day.

*Some verses to consider: Jeremiah 29:11; 1 Peter 1:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 3:13‑14; Isaiah 40:31; Ecclesiastes 3:11; Lamentations 3:22-24; Isaiah 43:18-19; Proverbs 3:5-6; Mark 12:28-31;James 1:17-18; 1 Chronicles 16:11-12; or Colossians 3:15-17
