We worship the God who is Lord of all. That means He is the one in control of everything in heaven and on the earth.
This weekend, Grades 1-5 will receive a personal invitation to be close to God through receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If you or your child would like to know more about how to receive eternal life, use the Children’s Guide for New Believers (downloadable here) for further discussion and prayer.
When you sit at home: Age 3-Kindergarten read Ezekiel 34:6, 11-15, 31. Who is your shepherd? What does it mean that God is your shepherd?
Grades 1-5 read Ezekiel 18:30; 36:26-28; 37:4-6. What was the warning, choice, and promise God told Ezekiel to give to the people? The way we “turn to God” is to turn away from doing things our own way and to begin doing things God’s way. When we ask Jesus to be Lord of our life, the Holy Spirit comes into our heart and makes it like new. God gives us a new life forever close to Him. If you have never asked Jesus to be Lord of your life, you can do that right now with your mom, dad, teacher, or anyone you know who has Jesus in their heart!
If you have asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, congratulations! We celebrate with you! Use the Children’s Guide for New Believers (downloadable here) for further discussion and prayer and let someone on the Children’s Ministry team know about your decision.
When you walk along the road: We have new Bible memory verses! Challenge each other to learn the verse for your age/grade this week.
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Thank You, Lord, for rescuing us. Help us to turn away from our sin and turn toward You. Fill us with Your Spirit and give us a new spirit and a new life. Amen.”
When you get up: Collect a backpack or bag and several heavy objects. Choose a course to run such as around the backyard or create your own obstacle course. First, run the course with just the backpack. Add a few heavy objects to the backpack and run the course again. Continue to add objects to the backpack and run the course as often as you like. For the last run, remove the backpack and run the course as fast as you can! Afterward, talk about how your running was affected by the weight you carried. When we sin, we may feel weighed down like we did with the heavy backpack. When we ask God to forgive us and turn away from our sin, it’s like He has removed our backpacks. He gives us a new heart, a new spirit, and a new life!
Ages 3-K Bible Memory Verse: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6
Grades 1-5 Bible Memory Verse: "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
