Do Not Worry/The Pharisee and the Tax Collector (July 20-26)

Do Not Worry/The Pharisee and the Tax Collector (July 20-26)

July 21, 2020

This week, we're continuing the study of Jesus’ parables. Ages 3-5 will be reminded to not worry (Matthew 6:25-34) and grades 1-5 will hear about the Pharisee and the tax collector (Luke 18:9-14).

When you sit at home:  Read the parable for your child's age or grade. A parable is a story that teaches a lesson. Jesus used parables to teach people about God’s kingdom. What is the lesson Jesus wants us to learn from this parable?

When you walk along the road: (Ages 3-5) How has God cared for your family’s needs? (Grades 1-5) Everything we have: talents, material possessions, and time are given to us by God. When we understand that, our hearts are thankful not prideful. Why is it difficult to have a humble heart?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Lord, thank You for taking care of us and thank You for everything You have given us. Help us to trust in You and to always give You the glory. Amen.”

When you get up: Choose a person or a group who may need food, clothing, or other basic needs. How might God use your family to help them? How can you have a humble heart when you serve them?
