This weekend in children’s church, we continue learning stories from the Old Testament. We will hear another story in the life of David as he remembers his promise to his good friend Jonathan by caring for Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth.
When you sit at home: Read 2 Samuel 9:1-11. David showed kindness to Mephibosheth because he loved Mephibosheth's father Jonathan and wanted to keep his promise to him. Why is it important for us to keep our promises?
When you walk along the road: What promises have you made that were hard to keep?
When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “Thank You, God, for showing kindness to us. Help us to show kindness to each other. Amen”
When you get up: How could you show kindness to someone who has a physical disability or maybe doesn’t feel included at your school, church, or in another group? Decide on a way your family can show kindness to someone.

Grades 1-5 Bible Memory Verse
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23
