Jesus came into the world not only to save but to engage with our fallenness. When we find ourselves dealing with disappointment, His power wrestles it to the ground and wins with beauty. Our God is the Redeemer who works all things out for the good of those who love Him. So instead of always changing our circumstances, He equips us to live in the Way, Truth and Life. Sermon text: Luke 24:13-24 Scriptures referenced: Romans 8:28, Psalm 56:8, Psalm 139:7-12, 1 John 3:1, 1 John 4:9-10, 1 Peter 5:7, Isaiah 54:10, Habakkuk 3:17-19 As Seen In Worship: Lyrics to the hymn, "It Is Well" When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea-billows roll, Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to know; "It is well, it is well with my soul." Tho' Satan should buffet, tho' trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed his own blood for my soul. My sin - oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin - not in part but the whole, Is nailed to His cross and I bear it no more; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh, my soul. And, Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll, The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend- "Even so - it is well with my soul." For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live, If Jordan above me shall roll, No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life Thou shalt whisper Thy peace to my soul. It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul. Worship Attribute: Worship Christ today as the Author of hope. Our only hope is in Him. Where else could we turn? He has promised that in all things He is working for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Our hope in Him is something we can give away to others.
