“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective. Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life.” - Colossians 3:1-4 (The Message)

When the confessed sins of hundreds of us disappeared from Northland’s sanctuary wall at the close of the worship service this weekend, it really touched my heart. That powerful visual of a biblical truth – God sees us through Christ, He sees us as clean!

How appropriate that our first step together in 2017 would be confessing our sins:   good for us agreeing with God that there are things we did that were just plain wrong. If we are to become conformed to the image of Jesus, surely Step 1 is admitting to the points of our non-conformance.

Step 2 is to avoid repeating the sins of our past. So this coming weekend, now that we have fessed up, Joel will teach us how to walk in the way we should go. No reason to be overwhelmed; a step at a time is the way to get where we need to be. Next week I’ll blog on Step 3.
