We worship the God who saves us. More than 2,000 years ago, on the streets of Jerusalem, the people waved palm branches, praising Jesus, and shouting “Hosanna,” which means “Save us!” This week, we remember this day with our celebration of Palm Sunday and with the parade of palms. In class, we read how God freed Paul and Silas from prison and saved the jailer and his family.

When you sit at home: Ages 3-Kindergarten read Acts 16:25-26. Grades 1-5 read Acts 16:22-34. Instead of being scared or angry that they were in jail, what were Paul and Silas doing? How could this story help you when you are scared, angry, or sad?

When you walk along the road: God wants us to praise him everywhere, every day. When do you have a difficult time praising God? How could you help each other praise God through the good and the bad?

When you lie down: Pray this prayer each day this week: “We praise You, Lord, for the plan You have for each day of our lives. Help us trust You and praise You even during difficult times. Amen.”

When you get up: Act out the story of Paul and Silas in prison. Set up a prison using blankets, chairs, or whatever you have. Take turns sharing sentence praises, “I praise God for ____” and sing your favorite praise songs together.
